Seattle Mariners: World Series Champions!

The Seattle Mariners, led by Co-Cy Young Award winners Felix Hernandez and Erik Bedard and MVP Ichiro Suzuki, closed out the sweep against the New York Mets today, 37-0. It was part of a brilliant season by the M's, going 162-0, and then sweeping everyone in the playoffs. Ichiro said afterwards, "I can not believe. We are champions! Champions!" as he ran off randomly hugging his interpreter.

Most players said that they did it for Richie Sexson, actually on the active roster, but most people thought he was in fact dead after he hit .150 for the season. "I didn't have the heart to tell them," Sexson said, as he wandered off openly wondering whether he would get a World Series ring.
